Lune-arctics

Rhod wanted to do an intermediate trip, and was watching the snow-melt translate into whitewater, but sadly by Wednesday morning it had mostly run away, and we ended up on the Lune, again. Conditions were beautiful, (blue sky and sunshine) but the air temp was well below zero, and the trees and pools were fringed with ice. So we did a read-and-run trip, with minimum playing on waves, and got down in 90 minutes.

Conrad hadn’t paddled the river for 20+ years, but he seemed quite at home; the biggest challenge was actually seeing what you were paddling, as the bright sunshine was directly upstream most of the way, and we paddled by feel and instinct as much as by line of sight. No photos as it was too cold to stop and take them!
