Welcome to Lakeland Canoe Club.
We are happy to be re-opening limited activities after UK COVID19 lock-down following BC guidance. Please read this guidance to ensure you are adhering to current UK regulations and keeping yourself and others safe.
We are friendly club based around Kendal in the Lake District, offering many canoeing opportunities for our members. These range from river trips in the Lakes and Pennines and also local weekends for longer trips to Scotland, sea trips on the Cumbrian coast and weekends in the North East of England and Scotland.
The club members co-ordinate and lead a range of trips for different abilities, including on sea, lakes and rivers. We also run pool sessions. In 2019 and 2020 we had over 230 club events- something for everyone. Visit our calendar for details of trips organised by the club and among club members and general discussions. When you join our club you will get a calendar login to add your own trips, RSVP to sign up to trips and leave posts.
Covid allowing, we offer weekly pool sessions at at Kendal Leisure Centre from 7.30pm till 8.30pm on Monday evenings. See the calendar for details. Due to COVID 19 numbers are limited. All will need to RSVP to book a place. Non members will be asked to complete a guest form before attending and then email the club to reserve a place. Guest form.
These friendly and informal pool sessions will allow you to pick up or practice kayaking skills, play canoe polo and meet like minded people. All kit is provided. We also play competitive polo matches with inter-club polo tournaments organised to give new and experienced players the chance to show off skills picked up at pool sessions. Pool use link.
We also take part in the Cumbria and the North West polo leagues.
Lakeland Canoe Club Vision Statement
We want to be the best paddlesport club in Cumbria. Practically, this means having active members, who are safe, skilful paddlers, out enjoying the water on a regular basis, and looking after each other. We welcome new members, regardless of their level of experience.
