One River No Lakes.

Sunday 10th Dec 2024.

Our plan of paddling across Grasmere, Rydal and a bit of Windermere by way of the Rothay and the Brathay was scuppered by the volume of rain and snow melt.
Instead the good old lower Lune to Kirkby Steven provided us with an enjoyable paddle.

Meeting at 9.30 just south of the Rawthey / Lune confluence, we were on the river for 10.30.
Lots of water (1.5 plus at Halton) and plenty of interesting waves to play on.

Little Egrets seem to be the bird of choice on the Lune, plus Buzzard, King Fisher and plenty of wagtails added interest in the wind and rain.

An enjoyable trip, with thanks to SimonL for leading, ably assisted when required by TomP and RobH, also JulianC ShawB and JohnS.
